AFN The Acupuncture Fertility Network
The Acupuncture Fertility Network (AFN)
The AFN is a group of acupuncturists dedicated to supporting couples with fertility issues. This group are all members of the British Acupuncture Council and have qualified after a 3 year course of study, Lic Ac MBAcC.
The structure of this group is as an alliance.
“joined in league for co-operation in a common purpose; persons that co-operate or help; supporter; kinship”
As an alliance the purpose of AFN is to help each other. The alliance is based in the need to support each other through study and exchange, to benefit the other members with:
• advise about aspects of practice
• exchange of articles and studies relating to fertility and gynaecology
• exchange of materials used to support clients
• contacts and connections that promote the integrated use of acupuncture
Another key purpose of AFN is to develop a recognisable profile with the public that helps to promote the use of traditional acupuncture in the support of gynaecology and fertility.
The structure of the alliance is through virtual contact, through email or royal mail, and through contact at seminars and workshops.
Membership to AFN is on the basis of Continuing Professional Development, CPD, through an undertaking of post graduate study in the fields of gynaecology and fertility.
Requirement for membership is attendance of post graduate courses in these fields.
AFN will undertake to host at least 1 two-day post graduate seminar for fertility treatment each year in order to provide opportunity for membership. Any other traditional acupuncture post graduate course of study in these fields would be acceptable.
Membership to AFN indicates a special interest in the treatment of fertility with traditional acupuncture and presumes a commitment to ongoing study.
